dear internet,

up until recently there was a law in Germany that restricted opening hours for shops. They were not allowed to stay open after 20:00 and had to remain closed on Sunday (with a few exceptions).

Now, at least in the area where I live, shops are allowed to stay open 24/6 (Sunday's still sacrosanct). Is that a good thing or even necessary?
