re: While you're at it, plan my life, too! by inafish

dear internet,

Okay, this is going to be a long one. The situation: I have three jobs at the moment:

Job 1: I'm a student working on her PhD.

Job 2: I free-lance as a translator for one company. They have vaguely offered me a part-time job at some point in the future, if a particular product of theirs takes off to a a degree that requires another person working on it. The money at the moment is fairly irregular, though.

Job 3: I sell bread at a baker's. It's exhausting, badly paid and takes up a lot of my time, but it gets me out of the house and it's regular money.

Now, the situation at the bakery has recently deteriorated quite badly, because several people, among them my immediate boss, left. I have asked to have me work less, but so far, nothing much happened. I see no future in this job, and it annoys me more and more, although if I actually work less there, it might be tolerable.
I should add that my husband makes enough money for us both to live on. Me making my own money is more a matter of improved lifestyle, maybe saving a bit, and mostly a question of independence for me.

The question is: should I quit my third job?
