dear internet,

my significant other and i will be celebrating our one year anniversary on monday and going out for a nice dinner in the city. should i get them a gift? we haven't talked about exchanging gifts - but it seems like it would be appropriate.

    Ask, so you both know. On my first year anniversary with my SO, I wasn't sure, and ended up not getting him a present - but he got me one, and I felt really bad. Make sure you're both on the same page.

    thanks for the advice: i ended up getting him a gift (inexpensive, but uber thoughtful) and it turns out he didn't get me anything. i was trying to be on the safe side, but now i just feel bad and he probably does too. i recommend option 3 for future lovers.
