It's a rough time in your sister's life, so I would say talk to her first...avoiding offending delicate tweenage pride, you know? Tell her that your mom is just frustrated by her behavior and offer her a safe, PRIVATE venting space with you. And then make sure you keep what she tells you to yourself unless she's putting herself or others in danger. After that, talk to your mom-tell her that making comparisons isn't helping the tension and suggest that she use some anger-management techniques to help keep her cool. Also, remind her that a lot of your sister's behavior is (I would guess) specifically calculated to drive her batty and the more she reacts to it, the more of tit your sis will dish out. Then, write a letter to your dad, telling him exactly how you feel about his actions. I would not talk to him because that will likely just turn into an argument, which wouldn't do any good.
Good luck!Jun 14, 2008 05:48 PM - in Nanny State, consectari says:
Wow, it's a good thing i've never told The Man about the time our cat attacked my leg when she thought her kittens were in danger...who knows what they would have done?!?
It should generally be up to the injured person, I think, unless there have been a certain number of complaints about a particular animal.Jun 12, 2008 06:09 PM - in Here's a tough one . . ., consectari says:
Best bet is to ask your doctor, really.

You can't make someone like you, dear. It hurts and it sucks but if he doesn't feel what you do, there's not a thing in the world you can do to change that. Even if he decides in the future that he thinks he likes you again, why would you put yourself through this again. He sounds very immature and indecisive, and if his best friends don't like you, that plays a powerful part in his behavior. Let him go and move on.

It sounds like he's maybe interested but it's hard to tell from two compliments, you know? The real questions is...are YOU interested? If so, ask him out!
